The calls for help from the Philippines PDF Print E-mail

In the Bible it says that there came a call from Macedonia. What I experience are calls from the Philippines.

Imagine you and your family living on the pavements of the streets in Manila.

It is time to heed the call and ACT. The apostles had acts of following Jesus, and those acts changed the world around them. Let us also act, to change our world and help our brothers and sisters in need.

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all,
especially to those who are of the household of faith. Gal. 6:10

Today I received 2 emails with calls for help from pastors in Manila. Please read and consider your response to these people in devastating circumstances.

The first email is from Rev. Ernesto Domingo, pastoring the church:
Christ Centered Bible Christian Ministries,, Blk 6 Lot 18 Diamond st., Ciudad Grande Muzon,, Taytay Rizal , Philippines

Rev. Erneste Domingo writes:

Dear Bro. Martin
pls help us because some of my brothers in cainta rizal are effected by typhoon "ONDOY & Peppeng".
Also my church members ..w/ 50 families AFFECTED by the typhoon
thank you Bro. Martin Hoping for your help...

Church members in Manila live here as their homes were destroyed by the typhoons.
This picture is after the flood. Their houses collapsed. Now they live like this, in shelters on the street pavements near a school.

Shortly thereafter I got email from Pastor Emilio Langres. He sent some photos of how members of his church live, now their houses have been destroyed.
Emilio Langres writes:

Hello Martin,
greetings from Pandacan, Manila, Philippines.
I'm happy to hear from Dan that your ministry is moving up to raise relief assistance for us victims of the 2 (two) super typhoons that causes flash floods in almost the entire Manila.
We are earnestly praying that God will use you to be a channel of blessing to us Filipinos who are desperately needing your big help. Thank you so much. God bless you and your family.

Thousands of families in disastrous emergency situation PDF Print E-mail

I find it incredible and horrifying that a province in the Philippines (similar to a state in US), has been flooded so that at the beginning 90% of it was flooded. Now it is 60% flooded! It is the province of Pangasinan with 2.5 million people.
Imagine hundreds of square kilometers being flooded. Everyone severely affected in that province.

2.5 million people live in 90% flooded Pampanga province

Just this summer I was driving through that province two times enjoying the beautiful ricelands.
Now it is flooded and probably many thousands of families have lost their homes and lots of their personal belongings either damaged or lost.

Additionally since the Philippine province of Pampanga is the rice-province of the Philippines. These families make their living of what now may be mudfilled lands, destroyed by the heavy rains of the 2 last typhoons visiting the Philippines with just 7 days apart.

Typhoon Parma's (Pepeng's) track the last 7 days
Those 7 days were not enough to make the flood of Manila downtown to subside. In fact there was almost 1 meter of water in some streets of Manila when the second typhoon Pepeng had its landfall.

The significance is that thousands of families will be poorer than ever, and the price of rice all over the Philippines will increase because of rice-shortage, making it even worse for poor families in other parts of the Philippines to get food on their table.

MissionPartner.Org has a chance to be your outstretched arm to help these people in their disastrous situation. Please consider how you can help, and the sooner the help arrives the better it is.

Unnumbered families severely affected by Parma (Pepeng) PDF Print E-mail

This letter comes from Bishop Conrado Domingo, and is about the results of typhoon Pepeng, which finally has left Northern Luzon. Pepeng dwelt around Northern Luzon for a whole week with heavy rains resulting in widespread flooding and landslides.

Thank you so much for your help to pray in rebuking the storm to cease and blow out to the sea.

Today is so bright and shiny! No more winds and rains and so peaceful. TV announced Pepeng has gone out from Luzon, and the Lord protected Susan and the Miracle Bible College.

Mrs. Susan Chan DomingoOnce again, this is to prove that Jesus has "given us the authority to tread serpent and scorpions and all the power of the enemy and nothing by any mean hurt us" regardless of distance.  To God be the glory!  Praise the Lord!

Though the Super Typhoon Pepeng has gone, but left 12 dead by flood and landslide in San Fernando, La Union;  Mike, the nephew of Susan, and family evacuated from his house with neck-deep of flood;  45 recovered dead at a lanslide in La Trinidad, near Bagiuio City; 3000 families displaced in San Manuel, Tarlac; and unnumbered families severely affected by flood in the province of Pangasinan.

Pray with us that God would supply relief assistance to all victims especially of the 12 families in San Fernando (La Union) who desperately need comfort and help.

Pray God to relieve Susan from chest and back pains. May God supply the funds to repair the devastated roof of our old house in the Miracle compound by the typhoon.  Thank you so much once again and God bless you.

We appeal to you to donate to the victims of typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng by sending as what your heart tells you to one of our accounts, and we will forward it to the victims.

Many killed in landslides in Northern Luzon PDF Print E-mail

Over 100 killed and many landslides and massive destruction of houses and agricultural lands caused by typhoon Parma (Pepeng) which has roamed around Northern Luzon for a whole week.

More than 100 people were reported dead or missing in a series of landslides brought about by days of heavy rains in the northern Philippines, officials said Friday.

At least 75 people were confirmed killed, while 72 remained missing in the landslides, which occurred in Benguet and Mountain provinces since Thursday.

The northern Philippines has been battered by heavy rains brought about by weakened typhoon Parma, which has been hovering over the area since the weekend.

Typhoon Parma has lingered over Northern Luzon causing massive rains for a whole week

In the mountain resort city of Baguio, 17 people were killed as landslides buried whole houses in different parts of the city, said city administrator and civil defence official Peter Fianza.

A landslide also left five dead and 32 missing in Mountain Province, said provincial governor Maximo Dulag.

The northern Philippines has been pounded by heavy rain since Typhoon Parma hit the country on Saturday.

Parma weakened into a tropical depression but has lingered over the north of the Philippines’ main island of Luzon.

The National Disaster Coordinating Council’s death toll from Parma on Friday morning was 25, however it was not immediately clear how many of the dead reported by the local officials were included in that tally.

Parma hit the Philippines exactly one week after tropical storm Ketsana pounded Manila to the south on Luzon, killing at least 337 people.
